We crossed the border into Guatemala from Belice on 11/11/2017 and were collected by driver Marvin and guide Benedicto: although both spoke good English they were happy to let us practice our Spanish . We drove towards Yaxha

de lujo, high up above a lake, reached by a funicular - scary!. But room, balcony, pool & food and surrounds were excellent |

Next morning another wet one!, a drive to Tikal and a bit of photo posing with Benedicto, but involved a lot of climbing, but on good wooden staircases. |

Next day we flew to Ciudad de Guatemala, then a short drive to beautiful Antigua. We cut short the designated city tour- useless guide- |

| & settled in to Posada del Angel, then enjoyed exploring alone. Found a nice wee cafe with a Tree of Life. Good restaurants there too: Panza Verde y El Cinq. | ||||

Stayed in a luxury villa, interesting artwork, B'alam Ya, right beside the lake. |

Then a trip across the lake to the pueblos of San Juan La Lacuna - good Cafe Frappe - and Santiago- lunch & interesting church |

Finally a long drive back to Posada del Angel- interesting room mates - in Antigua before driving on to Honduras the next morning
