Boyzz in Rwanda

We flew Turkish from Valencia to Kigali. The bad news that it was "bear at the back of the plane" class, so never got the poncy chef in the flat hat that usually cooks for us. Anyway one in Kigali things started to look up.. A proper meet and greet in the airport, transport to a decent hotel, and a big buffet breakfast


The madre was tired and we had to put her to bed in the hotel	But we were all up in time to stuff ourselves for breakfast	Even the Padre was allowed a little breakfast	Then into out 4*4 with out driver Jean Luc, who needed a little help with directions from time to time

A nice stop along the road for lunch. We toyed with the idea of..	..buying a few curios, but they warned us off that.	Then on to a museum. Normally we do not like museums. And ..	.. this one was no different


We had one of the chalets in the grounds	Quite comfortable	Though the food was not up to our (high) standards

We skipped the first trek, as even the padre struggled to reach ..	.. the deepest jungle where he saw flying monkeys.	We never realised that monkeys could fly


Then we did trek, it was a trek, to this canopy walkway.	The madre was a bit frit, and we had to encourage her . She managed in the end	And this is the nice man who guided us there

After that another trek to see Chimps. Most of them were ..	..in the trees and difficult to see. But we did manage to catch..	..sight of a few

We then had a day off treks - treks can be tiring when you only have short little legs. We spent a day at Lake Kivu

From Lake Kivu it was a short drive to the big one. Volcanoes National Park to see the Mountain Gorillas, as well as Golden Monkeys


We stayed at this hotel. Called itself Mountain Gorilla Lodge.	And there were a lot of Mountain Gorilla artifacts around .	Even a big concrete statue in the garden	And an even bigger one in the National Park

So we got settled in.	Sent for the hot water bottles	Got them to light the fire in the bedroom	We met the people who mattered

Then there was this local dance group.	They realised that we knew a thing or two about dance and ..	..about drumming. So we gave them a few tips	Mind you they might just have been looking for money tips

Another day, another museum	Anyway, we signed the visitors book, ..and had a poke around.	We seem to be back with old bones here	And another museum in Kigali

We don't know how we got out of this alive. There we were .	..sitting posing for a photo. When along comes this little fellow .	. and before you know it some of his friends.	..and then the whole class. We were almost bear-napped.


Next morning we had our trek to see the gorillas. It was muddy ..	..and Pembroke fell into the mud. The gorillas were huge, and	..managed to look both cuddly and scary ate the same time. We would not like to bump into one of these fellows on a dark night - we would never see him on a dark night	Like all the other punters, we posed for our photos

And on the last morning, our last trek. This time to see ..	..Golden Monkeys. They were Golden too, and moved very .	..fast through the tree tops, so tended to to stop long enough ..	..for us to have our photo with them

After all the excitement with gorillas, chimps and monkeys, it was back to the real world with a "basic bear" class fare from Kigali to Dar es Salaam ( via Entebbe, Addis Ababa, in the middle of the night)


Nice hotel.	Nice big bed	nice big drinks

Nice food, all eaten. Baked bananas always go down well.	We are all relaxed now	And this nice chap kept us supplied with drinks and food
