Us and a couple of chocolate bears, something new in our house And sharing a bottle of wine at a wine tasting Looks as if Christmas is on the way. We must remember to ... ...bring our Father Christmas lists with us to the Silver Ray

Heritage Malta

The padres, photo are it must be said, a bit old, have now got free old age passes to Heritage Malta. This meant the we wasted good eating time, being dragged around piles of old stones and dark holes in the ground

It takes a very brave, or very foolish, Bear to sit here

Actually this was not too bad, it was about Fortress BuildingAnd they had a model about our size And this is Fort St Angelo, where they have big guns Auntie Joanna came to Malta for a few days
And then they took us to something called Catacombs Catacombs are essentially dark holes under the ground into which they buried people
And at Marsaxlokk we sat well back from the water Mdina is always worth a visit (they have lots of restaurants) And this Maltese fellow is an old friend of ours

Restaurants

Always the best part of any trip is the restaurants.

This Michelin Star stuff at Bahia is very poncy .. ..but very good With Auntie Joanna at Medina Restaurant Where we managed to inspect the bar as well
A Pizza in Valletta ..and a glass of mulled wine in Valetta This restaurant in Three Cites as called Marea It was difficult to find and the old man managed to get lost
Our favourite, though the Madre is not too keen on it, is in Mosta These are the sort of buns that we really like Another poncy restaurant, Tartarum in Marsaxlokk They were unfortunately more into fish than buns

And this was a really nice restaurant in Attard. We booked a really nice table on the balcony, and allowed the padres to join us

Culture

People have perhaps unkindly said, that the Boyzz and Culture are not words that you would expect to read in the same sentence. But we did go to both a rendering of Arias by an Italian Tenor. And and organ recital in the St John's Cathedral

We managed to stay awake, so did not disgrace the family   Looks a bit undignified. Us leaving the organ recital

Walking the Wall

We leave this to the end as it was the most difficult and distressing for us. For reasons unknown, the padres decided to walk (over 5 days) the entire length of the Victorian Lines . This is a wall that was built in 1870 to run all the way across Malta as a defence line. Now we are all for defence lines, but this wall was now falling apart in places (old stones), and is very up and down. Even the madre found the up and down difficult, but when you have only short teddy bear legs, it is all much, much more difficult

So after Malta we are off to USA and Peru. We hope to meet Father Christmas along the way
