Boyzz General Life aboard the Silver Cloud
The whole family were very well looked after aboard the Silver Cloud. The madre appreciated how every one knew she was Madame Grant, and we were well fed buns when she was not around!

No formal nights these days but the madre still likes dressing posh! The padres mainly ate 'a deux' but did socialise at times . Above with Cathy, John, Ann & Catherine; with Pippa, Cindy & Ben; with Pippa & Lynne | ||||

with Roddy; with Meghan; & with Jade & Seb. At the end of the 1st leg, in Santiago, a lunch was given in the Dame for the 11 passengers continuing on; we sat with Jonathan, the activity director, & appreciated the soufflee! |
We enjoyed several lunches up on the pool deck, plus dinners in Hot Rocks. Dinners in the Terraza and the restaurant had a few hiccups, not so good as when Pia was the chef on the Silver Cloud in the spring! This chef, Gio, was more into presentation than quality. Lunch outside on the Terraza's terrace, in clement weather, was much preferably to inside. We also enjoyed the back deck outside the Panorama lounge for our after lunch coffee and evening canapees with cocktails. And the padre was insistent on afternoon tea- with that tower thing you can see below: but the scones this trip were a disappointment for the madre

We braved the elements in Hot Rocks; here the padre cooked on just the one hot stone for all the family. The teatime tower was sometimes more visually attractive than tasty!, but the padre liked the sandwiches |

Caipirinhas and bellinis were two of our favourite cocktails, mainly savoured outside on deck 8 |

Pippa, the madre, Anike and Ursula. . The chef wasted much energy on presentation - we would have preferred better quality, not to mention, quantity!! |

We crossed the equator on October 21st, and the Expedition Team took this as a green light to do all manner of daft things!!..

Our friend Jonathan did all the spouting before the polywogs were initiated- by having a large tuna wiped across the face, followed by a smothering of coloured creams!: not for us! The madre regularly used the pool, even when rough! |
. . .
Lynne Caroe had her 70th birthday that same day, ,inviting about a dozen of us to her suite for drinks, and then a dinner was served in the Dame. .

The cake was yummy but we were not allowed to burst any balloons- and she had enough!! |
Just before we arrived at Rio, Jonathan gave Silversea Ted to the madre, in exchange for her useless Trivia points that could be cashed in for "really disappointing prizes": but the madre had heard Jonathan say he did have one bear in his cupboard, so us lads sent him an email requesting the company of said bear on the last leg of our cruise, Rio to Buenos Aires . We welcomed Silversea Ted with open paws, as we reckon he had been lurking in that cupboard for many a long year: we even let him spend the day in Rio instead of Somerville ( & you can't think of anything more truly bearselfless than that!)
