A lovely hotel run by ultra friendly Declan from Newry. Scrumptious breakfasts, spacious room & a fascinating town. He advised us to take the train-whoopee!

This went round the vineyards, allowing one to hop off & sample the wines for an hour, then hop on to the next vineyard. Plus tapas, even chocolates

Even an elephant at Rickety Bridge vineyard . Next day a lunch out at Haute Cabriere - delicious food, great views and really friendly staff

Leaving Franschoek we drove up to Ah! Guesthouse, Paternoster. Here a rugged coastline to the south, a vast sandy beach, and a big birthday to celebrate.

Back to Clouds Estate, Stellenbosch; de luxe room, nice grounds, glorious views, OK breakfast. But food was much better at Indochine, De Graafe Estate
